A western Colorado resident for most of her life, Mavis Bennett is the publisher of the Montrose Monitor. She has written for newspapers and magazines more than three decades and founded the popular Monitor Magazine in 2003. This web site is the logical progression for the Monitor.
Dave Segal, a Detroit native, has been a journalist since 1977. He has worked as a reporter, commentator, and news director at radio stations in Detroit, Denver, and Montrose.
Dave has been writing and editing for the Monitor since its first print issue in 2003. He is editor and senior writer for the digital magazine. On the side, Dave has also done freelance writing, media relations, and a variety of volunteer work.
Born and raised on the Front Range of Colorado, Jay Stooksberry is a freelance writer living in Delta, Colorado with his wife and son. Leann Tobin is the Director of Community Engagement at Montrose Memorial Hospital. She has been at MMH since 1999 and participates in the strategic planning and leadership for the organization. Leann grew up in Lakewood Colorado and received her B.S. from Colorado State University. She and her husband, Pat, met while traveling in the international program Up with People. They have two sons, Bryce and Dylan.
Debbie Reed is a 35+ year transplant to Montrose. In her other life, she is a Realtor with Phelps Realty,
Jamie Gann grew up in Montrose and recently returned to teach writing at Centennial. Her first Monitor writings came via the South American travel blog her family kept during their sabbatical year. She has also written for The Crested Butte News, Radical Family Sabbatical, Gringos Abroad, and Outside In Travel Magazine. She has always had a love of words, which is only surpassed by her love of family. She is primarily a mom to two boys, for whom there are no words beautiful enough to describe.
Michelle Curry Wright
Michelle Curry Wright has lived in the Telluride area since 1984 where she has had many and various jobs to support her writing and painting habits. She has had novels published novels (2), as well as essays (many). This project is the revitalization of a novel she wrote as a 20-something, set in a remote part of southeastern Utah. Each chapter in the story, released monthly on her blog, www.dreamingoflasal.com, is accompanied by a backstory essay about her life and her connection to the original novel.
Curry Wright resides in Ridgway, CO, is married to Peter Kenworthy, and has one daughter and four step-children. She currently works with the online sales team at a beeswax candle factory.

Ellen Roberts is the Senator for Colorado District 6 which encompasses Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, San Juan, and San Miguel counties. In 2015, she was elected to serve as the President Pro-Tem for the Colorado State Senate.
