Region 10 looking for feedback on aging services

Region 10 Area Agency on Aging—“The Right Services at the Right Time”

Region 10 Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is working on its four-year plan. Montrose residents 60 and over are being asked to comment and provide feedback on the services provided by AAA.

“We want to know what’s working and not working as we proceed into the future,” said Eva Veitch, Region 10 Community Living Services Director. She spoke before a focus group at the Montrose Senior Center recently. “We are getting out and talking to seniors in the community and trying to determine if  we are on the right track with how we’re spending our money. What do you need to be able to age as well as possible, wherever you want to.”

The group discussed some of the following topics:

Transportation-between towns

Legal assistance-where to find an elder care lawyer

In-home services like-homemaker, personal care, shopping-how often will these service be provided per month and how to get groceries delivered

A trusted companion to go to medical appointments

Long term care ombudsman

Caregiver respite and support

Social engagement

Housing-senior or low income housing availability  in the Montrose area

Access to services

Nutrition programs

Call tree or other reassurance

End of life wishes/concerns?

Remaining in your current home as you age, anticipating needing to make it more accessible

What are some of the possible barriers to maintaining your independence as you age?
